Since the company was originally founded in 1946, Charlotte Shoe Repair has been an institution in the surrounding area, built on honesty and craftsmanship. Owner, Travis Lyon purchased the business seven years ago and has stood to uphold the principles the company was built on. Since that time, Charlotte Shoe Repair has grown considerably, but some things have remained the same- quality, trust, and pride in being one of the last surviving shoe repair stores and shoe cobbler in the Mid-Michigan area.
Whether your issue is thin, stretched leather, broken seams, or separated soles, our shoe cobbler can help. We offer quality boot and shoe repair in Charlotte, keeping your expensive footwear in service longer. Our services extend way beyond shoe repair. We can fix women’s heels, half soles on shoes and boots, cowboy boots, zippers, buttons, Carhartt jacket zippers, loafers, Birkenstock’s, and a variety of other leather goods you may have.
Meet the owner:
When owner Travis Lyon was 16 years old, a high school backyard football game led to a ruptured and dislocated ankle, leaving a devastating injury and a joint that pointed 90 degrees in the wrong direction. With time, the injury healed but regular footwear unfortunately was no longer an option. This lead Travis to purchasing his first pair of Red Wing Boots, and was sold ever since. So much in fact, that he started to work for a few local shoe stores, which lead him to Charlotte Shoe Repair where all of the warranty repair work for his company was done. A strong partnership with the owner was formed. Over the years of working together, the owner decided that he was ready to get retire and presented Travis with the option to purchase the company. Growing up on a dairy farm, Travis was no stranger to hard work and gladly was ready to roll up his sleeves and dive into this new opportunity. In his own words, “it’s been a very fun ride ever since”.
